SHOPKEEP SINCE: 2014
ABOUT: Colin is a whimsical mix of randomness, with a storied history of different professions, past lives and proclivities. He’s worked for a crazy billionaire of Mr. Burns-like proportions. He’s been a brick-oven pizza slinger. He’s traveled to Australia, New Zealand the AND Wisconsin Dells.
Currently residing in the cozy second story of Beardsgaard Manor, he can be seen about town enjoying a pint, a late night Hardees run, or living in a sitcom (à la Kramer from “Seinfeld”). Feel free to crack a joke and a beer with him. Or to throw any blunt objects in his general direction.
FAVORITE THINGS: Craft brews, coffee, cartoons, comedy, quality film. The crisp Autumn air. Grand Theft Auto 5. Tyne Daly.
FANDOMS: Game Of Thrones, The Walking Dead, X-Files, Supernatural (in training), Futurama, Louis CK, all things Adult Swim. etc.
BACKGROUND: My father grew up in Humboldt Park, my mother in Evanston. As his father served as a chauffeur for the Wrigley family, he now works for Brookfield Zoo, while hers labored as a mechanic in Skokie for nearly 50 years.
Between those family histories, it makes sense that I’ve become a hodge-podge of a Chicago stalwart myself. Hopscotching between both city and suburbs, it’s how I’ve developed a natural ease and adaptability wherever I happen to be, along with a hard-nosed work ethic that I have only been able to quantify as “mercenary-gypsy-hobo.”
I’ve been a journalist, copywriter, dishwasher, designer, photographer, cashier, waiter, bartender and babysitter. And all the scars and skills gained now aid me in perfect proportion behind-the-scenes and the desk here at Beardsgaard.
