Mead maker. Avid cruise goer. Can’t spell. Can cosplay.

Staff Barber
ABOUT: Marissa may be a newer barber to us, but she been barbering for years already, and has been cutting hair professionally for even longer. All new barbers at Beardsgaard are tasked with a straight razor shave of Beardsmith’s dome, and he can attest that her shave was amongst the smoothest he has ever experienced, right out of the gate.
She is both a well rounded barber as well as one with some deep and specific knowledge veins, specifically with long and/or curly hair. Her former shop home, which unfortunately did not reopen after the big Covid closure, was in Schaumburg, which means she got to cut Medieval Times knights’ beards, and we’re jealous af.
Growing up in New Jersey then Missouri before landing here in 2014, Marissa is one of the few true extroverts we have at Beardsgaard (who else would go on 19 cruises by their mid 20s?) If you’re on the extroverted/bubbly/jovial/social butterfly end of the scale, you’re going to have a great time in her chair.
FAVORITE THINGS: Walking into Comicon in full cosplay, doing her makeup while, rather specifically, watching corgi and bearded dragon videos, getting swept into the energy of a concert, shopping for painting supplies and then using them to paint video game logos and characters, painting her hair different colors frequently, movies with extra salty popcorn, cooking new things, and the ever popular loud singing while driving.
FANDOMS: Horror movies and Harry Potter, Parks & Rec and The Office, Disney and Pixar, Marvel & DC, Ratchet & Clank, Kingdom Hearts & Zelda, and, just, animals generally.

SPECIALTIES: Marissa is currently our only dual licensed barber, and has extensive experience with long and women’s hair as well as the short stuff, being especially skilled with curly hair, and is also well-versed in shaves and beards. If you want to see more of what she’s up to/know when she has chair spots to fill, follow her on Instagram.
