Legendary Captain Fawcett founder Richie Finney will be on hand for the pre-launch signing of their new book, “The Gentleman’s Guide to Grooming: The Quintessential Handbook for the Modern Man” on Wednesday, October 4th from 7-9 PM. Join us.
Captain Fawcett, the man and the grooming brand, are legend. As is the man who calls himself The Captain’s Right Hand man, Richie Finney. It’s all quite tongue-in-cheek, you see, as the actual historical Lieutenant Colonel Fawcett (no relation) disappeared without a trace in the Amazon in 1925. They even made a movie about it.
While no one knows for sure what happened to Percy Fawcett the man, the brand Captain Fawcett is the realm of Mr. Finney, and renowned the world over, from the average gloriously hirsute fellow to the sets of movie and TV productions as fantastical as Lord of the Rings.
And he’s coming to Beardsgaard for a once-in-a-lifetime event, a pre-launch signing of his new book (US release 11/7). That Blademaiden happens to be in. You will not want to miss this. Read on for all the particulars.
Hot off the presses:
We will be hosting a pre-launch book signing together with UK luxury men’s grooming brand Captain Fawcett for the pre-release of The Gentleman’s Guide to Grooming: The Quintessential Handbook for the Modern Man on Wednesday, October 4th from 7-9 PM. The event is cheekily entitled, The Captain of the Gaard Book Signing.
Captain Fawcett’s products and its founder, Richie Finney, are legend among the world’s best beards, and the brand’s products are a favorite on movie and TV sets, including Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. One of the barbers featured in the book is our very own Blademaiden, co-founder of Beardsgaard and River Peak Apothecary in Batavia, Illinois, and educator for Dutch pomade brand Reuzel (known as a Scumbassador).
Although the book features barbers, artists, and a plethora of characters from all over the globe, the book also features many other contributors, including barber Ludlow Blunt of Williamsburg NY, photographers Michael Barton of IL, Project Barbatype of Richardson, TX, Greg Anderson of Las Vegas, NV, Jeffrey Moustache of Los Angeles, CA, Dan Herrera of Sacramento, CA, Rob Hammer of San Diego, CA; as well as artists Quyen Dinh of Los Angeles, CA, Joe and Jim Heins at Heins Creative, Inc of Billings MT.
The evening will feature beard and mustache competitions with Grand Prize packs from Captain Fawcett, food from The Market at Gaetano’s, beverages from Windmill Ginger Brew, live music from Greg Boerner, and will be livestreamed to our frankly ridiculous 27,000 YouTube subscribers. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
