Every day there are all sorts of haircuts walking out of our doors, some simple everyday cuts, and some a bit more dapper, and some where our clients let us pull out all the stops. For those who want to know what we REALLY do here.
The Cut: Pompadour
The Barber: Natalie
The Story:
Weird and always well-dressed with clear blue eyes and an incredibly thick, dense, stiff head hair with extreme growth patterns and very prominent bones in his skull, Matt has an ever-changing look entirely his own (you can see him on the Portfolio page as well).
All of those unique hair and skull characteristics make heads like this a nightmare for some cutters (we have seen him a few times where schedules didn’t work out and he ended up at another shop, and hoo boy). We will admit, getting this hair to sit how we want requires some customization from your average cut.
But as we say with so many hair “problems,” those problem parts are going to do what they are going to do, so we use them as the starting point of a style to make that head do some amazing things.
Those extreme growth patterns give height where other heads fall flat, and that density provided by a thick cuticle layer of the hair, styled with a little heat from the blowdryer holds where you put it.
As usual this cut is styled with a paddle brush and blowdryer after a splash of Grooming Tonic, then slathered with the green Reuzel Grease on the sides and red Reuzel Pomade on top, and combed into place.
A lot of fantastic cuts walk out of this shop, but most of the time we are on to the next client before we have a chance to take photos.
So, to actually capture these great styles (with decent lighting), we have started a roster of hair models. None are “models” for sure (although some have been a curiously Pavlovian effect on our lady followers), these Zoolanders are pulled from our existing clients.
