Early Winter Wishlist / December

December 17, 2014 By //  by The Beardsgaards Leave a Comment

Each month Beardsgaard rounds up a collection of lifestyle covetables for both the gents and the whole family from around the interwebs that we know you weirdoes will love. Enjoy!

December Wishlist

With Christmas just over a week away and our shopping happily done, we are ready to settle in for a service industry white-knuckled ride through these last days before Christmas. We shopped local this year, but not before scouring the internet (as we do) for gifty ideas.

This month’s Wishlist is full of wintery giveable goodies, from meat-related things to the wishes for the kiddo to the most badass coat of all time (for a certain subset of the nerdosphere, at least).

  1. Lillie’s Q – Carolina Dirt / $12 ~ Named after the clay-colored soil of the Carolinas, this barbecue rub has us dreaming of warm days. But because we are Chicagoans and will totally barbecue in the winter, we can bring the sweet and smoky flavors of summer to the winter.
  2. Wishing Ball / $32 ~ The Shop Kid is all about magic lately, and a permanent place to put her wishes like this beautiful blue blown glass ball sounds pretty magical to us.
  3. Captain Jack Harkness Coat / $300 ~ Natalie and Tyler would fight each other for this one. First person to bring us one gets free beardwork for a year, seriously.
  4. Fox Teacher’s Pet Backpack / $29 ~ As folks who live by the Fox River, the wee one definitely needs this backpack. Any excuse to phase out a bit more of the endless pink stuff.
  5. Paper Plane Necklace / $35 ~ If you have been around the shop lately, you might have had a paper plane flying overhead. Shop Kid has been enlisting the expertise of various patrons in her aerodynamic adventures. Natalie and Morgan might just trade this back and forth.
  6. Cheese & Crackers Serving Board / $48 ~ IT’S AN AMPERSAND. After spending her life around Bang & Olufsen, Natalie is big on the ampersands.
  7. Nymphs Lamp No. 17 / $199 ~ Yeah, it’s expensive as hell, but if it showed up in our house, we wouldn’t be mad.
  8. Cardamom + Coffee Body Scrub / $48 ~ 2 whole cups of scrubby goop that detoxifies, invigorates and smoothes the whole body. Natalie suffers from psoriasis, made worse by winter and stress. This might be just the thing to prevent her from turning into a dragon this winter.

Have a favorite little something wonderful we should know about? Tell us about it in the comments.

About The Beardsgaards

The Beardsgaards are a pair of mom-and-pop barber nerds with a shared obsession with perfection. We built this old school barbershop to feel like home to everyone who enters beneath the Elvish script above our door. If we and the Gaardian army can give you a better handle on your grooming routine, all the better.

We were deeply saddened by the news of Christopher We were deeply saddened by the news of Christopher Tolkien passing a year ago, and still are to this day. Our love of his father and Lord of the Rings is ever present here at Beardsgaard. So tonight we, and hopefully the rest of you, will take a moment to remember one of the greatest authors of all time, his son, and the impact the Tolkien family has had on our lives.

We know it’s a bit of a pain but it’s really to appease Phydeoux the shop dragon. He has a hunger for children and waivers, and we’d rather feed him waivers.

Well hello to those with wild beards who heard whi Well hello to those with wild beards who heard whispers of moving out of Tier 3 Mitigation! Please pause, we're not there yet.

This does not apply to the entire state of Illinois, only certain regions. As of now, we are still in Tier 3. We will announce when we have moved to Tier 2 on all of our social media channels as well as our email list, so sit tight until then!

Because knowledge is power, you also can go to http://dph.illinois.gov/regionmetrics?regionID=8 at any time and look at Region 8, which contains Kane County. As of this posting, we are not meeting the metric on hospital bed availability.

We promise, we want to get everything under your mask looking and feeling great, but we cannot do that until it's safe. Thank you for understanding, and please keep an eye out here, on Instagram or sign up for our email list at the bottom of www.beardsgaardbarbers.com to get updates.
