At Beardsgaard, we pride ourselves on stocking our shelves with the very best products from small, independent companies, in many cases local, as well as the rare, hard-to-find heritage brands in addition to carefully selected professional haircare.
From the Apothecary is a regular feature on the blog that gives you the barber low-down on our shelf favorites.
Warm wood and sea. Damp green fjords. Earth and leather. Honeyed mead.
Introducing: Odin
The beardy fellows at Merlin’s Beard, a local company out of Wheaton, Illinois have become good friends with whom we huff far too many essential oils in our experimentations. They craft a phenomenal full line of beard products, as well as beard combs and other fine wooden creations from their workshop, in addition to our co-branded creations.
The first creation born of the Camelot’s Finest (Merlin’s Beard) and the Alchemy of the Gaard (Beardsgaard) was Claus, introduced around Christmastime, and now with the emergence of spring and all of the growing things comes Odin.
Inspired by the damp, earthy lands of the Vikings, its complex and evocative layers of Seaweed, Leather, Beeswax, Violet Leaf and Agarwood is perfect for Vikings, Wizards, Santas, and all beards in between, all year long.
This is the same base formula as the rest of the Merlin’s Beard products that you know and already buy compulsively with our special edition scents.
While some beard oils fade rather quickly, the strong base notes in this blend last all day. While you stop smelling it at some point, a hug will still garner comments on the scent 12 hours later, as the lady Beardsgaard can attest. Although we don’t claim it is made with pheromones, it does have that sort of effect, but take note: this is potent stuff.
As they say, 60% of the time, it works every time.
