Full Crew, Full Hearts

May 31, 2017 By //  by The Beardsgaards Leave a Comment

Gaardians, the day has finally arrived. Tomorrow we begin June 2017, and with it, at long last, a full staff, both barbers and support staff. AND! We’re open Monday-Friday 9 am – 8 pm, with Saturdays 9 am – 5 pm. We know, we can hardly believe it either.

Total transparency here, when formulating our business plan prior to opening, we didn’t foresee this even in the five-year plan.

We may or may not completely know what we’re doing here

We had thought 4 barbers including The Beardsgaards, a front desker, that’s it by year 5. But here we sit with 6 barbers, 3 deskers, and 2 more members of the support staff, three months short of our three-year anniversary.

Brace yourselves. Everything from the services, to ease of getting in, to opening hours, to the content we bring you even when you’re away from the shop, it’s all getting even better. Right about…now.

Let’s meet the whole crew, and see what parts they play in The Great Embiggening.

The Beardsmith

Slider with alias abouttyler not found.

Status: Old Gaard – Leading the barber team, one-half of the mom and pop team that started Beardsgaard. Still on the floor, he does get one extra day off per week now to attend to business matters that are not hair. IG@barberbeardsmith

The Sassmaster

Oops...
Slider with alias aboutamanda not found.

Status: Old Timer – Our longest running barber in the shop, Amanda came to us a new barber school graduate with many years under her belt of cosmetology already (we do hire stylists you see, but only if they ALSO have a full-on barber license too). Having feet in both sides of the industry, and starting fresh out of school with us, she has become a great asset in passing down our training in the way of the Gaard to even our experienced new barbers in the shop. IG@sassmasterthebarber

The Old Kid

Oops...
Slider with alias aboutscott not found.

Status: Old Timer – Also hired straight out of barber school but unlike Amanda, new to the game at the time, Scott took to barbering like a moustachioed duck to a lake of bourbon. Full of dad jokes and with more energy than folks half his age, his is one of the most fun chairs to be in in the shop. IG@scottjherron

Sweet Dee

Status: Noob – Deena is pretty fresh out of barber school too, but has actually been cutting for longer than anyone else in the shop, recently obtaining her dual license status like Amanda. She’s peppy, quick, and really, really short. Currently, she’s only here two days per week while she works the other days in her own studio. IG@shearperfection_2016

Barber Dutch

Status: Noob – Dutch has finally arrived from California after a long preparation for the cross country move, and is making endless new friends in his chair already. A weird amount of them are blacksmiths, like himself. If you ever wanted Ron Swanson to have massive ear gauges and cut your hair, Dutch is your man. And if you hadn’t guessed, he is, in fact, Dutch. IG@barberdutch

The New Kid

Status: Noob – After guest barbering with us last year, Alex has come to stay, jumping in and starting early last week, because with the Beardsgaards on vacation, we had an extra chair for him! It seems he can’t stand to spend more than a few days at a time not covered in other people’s cut hair. He even made an insanely good teaser video prior to his arrival in town. And if you hadn’t noticed, he’s a big Zelda fan. IG@elbarberalex

The Blademaiden

Oops...
Slider with alias aboutnatalie not found.

Status: Old Gaard – When this place was young, Natalie was still able to run the business around cutting her clients. As we grew, she had to step away from the chair to be able to start River Peak Apothecary, run both businesses, and teach for Reuzel in her spare time. Nowadays, chunks of the job have gotten so time-consumingly expansive, they have had to be split into their own horcruxes. Meet the horcruxes. IG@barberblademaiden

Eagle

Oops...
Slider with alias aboutangel not found.

Status: Old Timer – The Shopkeep who made the position into the client service machine it is today, Angel is the master of the desk. If you’re talking to us by email at either Beardsgaard or River Peak, it’s pretty much always him. He also took loving ownership of the River Peak web shipping, making packages a delight to open, and including an original, often adorably creepy original doodle with each one to brighten days all over the world. IG@kingizzart

Tankerbell

Oops...
Slider with alias aboutvinc not found.

Status: Old Timer – The Shopkeep who spends most of his time diving deep into data and keeping the gears running smoothly, Vinc handles HR, payroll, inventory, ordering, and the tangled web of paperwork that is always threatening to bury us. Despite his tank-like proportions, he’s often found nimbly creeping around with a camera, capturing the stories of the shop through his lens, as he does with his other love, VincTank Photography. IG@vinctank_photography

Lucky Eye

Status: Noob – Lindsey is a jack-of-many-trades artist and craftsman who completes the Shopkeep Triforce. And to make sure Blademaiden has the time to create the kinds of informative idiocy content you have come to know and expect from us (video editing is not a quick process), Lindsey will also be taking over the Beardsgaard social media channels. That also includes finally turning on ALL the YouTube video comments, because we have someone to help manage them on a channel that up and exploded in size behind our backs. Hopefully she doesn’t get eaten in said comments section. IG@luckyeyeink

MacSibyl

Status: Noob – As a social media professional for one of the biggest brands on the planet, our little company can’t afford Sibyl as a full-on Gaardian. But as we all knew we were made for each other the moment we entered each other’s orbits, freelance is another story. With aplomb and expertise in the field aplenty, Sibyl is going to be running River Peak’s social media (and a bit of Beardsgaard too), helping us to continue our fantasy world-building. As you do. IG@sibylmunoz

The Shop Kid Extraordinaire

Oops...
Slider with alias aboutmorgan not found.

Old Gaard – Rounding out the crew is the kid who, by the time she can drive (which is thankfully still 7 years away), will have a decade of work experience under her belt. Morgan sweeps, cleans sink traps with her child-sized hands, and, we’re pretty sure, is inducting your children into the kid’s area cult on a daily basis. She is finally over Frozen. And there was much rejoicing.

We have been promising for the better part of the last year that reinforcements were on their way, and times greater than our imaginings were also on their way. Those times are now, Gaardians. Let’s skip into the future together.

About The Beardsgaards

The Beardsgaards are a pair of mom-and-pop barber nerds with a shared obsession with perfection. We built this old school barbershop to feel like home to everyone who enters beneath the Elvish script above our door. If we and the Gaardian army can give you a better handle on your grooming routine, all the better.
