You know Scott. He’s the plaid-bedecked fellow with the jaunty mustache and googly laugh that had been loitering around our shop for the last few years, landing the double (and triple) entendres, and cutting hair sometimes. And now lookit that, he’s all grown up with a shop of his own.
We met Scott (and Amanda) while he(/they) were still in barber school. As we do with all new barber school grads, we started him out as an apprentice, because that jump straight from school to the shop floor can be a beast. It’s a good way to let new barbers get their feet under them before throwing them completely to the wolves.
When he was nice and comfy on the floor, he became a full staff barber and things rolled along, as they do in the shop. But Scott lives in the absolute boonies, and we know what it is to spend a ridiculous amount of time commuting to work, dreaming about building your own thing close to home.
And now he has done just that! The Old Kid may be a decade older than us, but we imagine it will all feel familiar when Shop Kid goes off to college one day. We are proud barber folks over here. He just opened, and while the place looks beautiful already, he has endless plans for things to do the place.
Which, if you have been HERE since the beginning, you’ll know we know a little something about. He’ll run out of room for knickknacks soon enough. When people know you’re into antiques, you become a community basement clean out receptacle, in the best way ever.
So if you’re out in the Genoa area, pop on in, get a haircut, get some love from Charlie Brown, the oldest-looking puppy on the planet, and say hello for us.
