We have a confession to make.
When we first began this barbershop, we messed up a bit on pricing our shave services. Beardsmith and Blademaiden were the only two barbers here in the beginning, and perhaps it was our enthusiasm for shaving that led us to price shaves to move, as it were. Back in 2014 we were charging a mere $20 for a full 45-minute straight razor shave. After a year of being booked solid we bumped it to $25.
Now on March 1st, 2017, we move on to a new era of pampering and service.
But let’s be real. Just about every barbershop that gives a good straight razor shave starts that business at around $30. The world-class shops that shave presidents and heads of state charge $60-something to astronomical prices. Also, for reference, most barber schools charge about $10 for a shave from a student who may never have even held a straight razor before, much less shaved another person’s face with it.
We can only speak for shops we have personally worked in, but pre-Beardsgaard our shaves cost $27 and all we had was basic razor blades, conditioner, and the same latherizer lather we use on the back of your neck.
Now that we are fully in charge of the supplies we get to use, here’s how we do it:
- Hot towels soaked in our essential oil blends
- Pre-shave oils/facial oils/Naturaltech conditioners to address skin issues as needed
- Badger brush-whipped lather of fine shaving soap/oils
- Some of our favorite razor blades on the planet (which aren’t, like, super expensive on an “each” level, but when you add it up…)
- Exquisite aftershaves
- 45+ minutes of your barber’s day
So with all that in mind, we are raising our shave prices to a reasonable level for the level of service/price and quality of the products we use on your face. Then are going to leave them there for a good long time.
As they say, you get what you pay for, and what you pay for here gets you pampered as all getout. Book your shave right HERE.
Behold, our new take-home price menus with tear-off appointment cards. We fancy.
