Gaardians, the day has finally arrived. Tomorrow we begin June 2017, and with it, at long last, a full staff, both barbers and support staff. AND! We’re open Monday-Friday 9 am – 8 pm, with Saturdays 9 am – 5 pm. We know, we can hardly believe it either.
Total transparency here, when formulating our business plan prior to opening, we didn’t foresee this even in the five-year plan.
We may or may not completely know what we’re doing here
We had thought 4 barbers including The Beardsgaards, a front desker, that’s it by year 5. But here we sit with 6 barbers, 3 deskers, and 2 more members of the support staff, three months short of our three-year anniversary.
Brace yourselves. Everything from the services, to ease of getting in, to opening hours, to the content we bring you even when you’re away from the shop, it’s all getting even better. Right about…now.
Let’s meet the whole crew, and see what parts they play in The Great Embiggening.

Beardsgaard has long been known for our frankly ridiculous waits to get in the chairs.
If you’re booking months out with our Long Range Barbers (currently Tyler and Amanda open three months out from the beginning of each new month), yes that still tends to be the case, because here in the burbs, the people with stable schedules like to book out pretty far. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have spots available!
Check wait times any time by hovering over the left image there on the Beardsgaard homepage
We also have our walk-in barber Vince, long-experienced not only with barbering, but turning a good walk-in clip as well. He has been excellent at keeping the wait times down, especially on our traditionally more chill Tuesdays and Thursdays (*wink wink nudge nudge*). You can check current walk-in wait times RIGHT HERE.
But you might have forgotten that we have a Short Order Barber (Scott, open one month out from the beginning of each new week) for those of you who don’t know what the heck your schedule looks like more than a month in advance.
And in addition to all of that, we also have our fake barber, The Sorting Hat, open SIX whole months out from the beginning of each new month. Remember, if you book with The Sorting Hat, you can request a specific barber and you will be placed with them if they are free that day/time, but we can’t make any guarantees.
We’re also adding two more barbers, one in May and one in June to keep up with the summer craziness.
So if you have been listening to the rumors that we don’t have any spots available, that’s old news. We’re always working to make it better/easier around here for you, and we’re not stopping now. Come see us today.

We have a confession to make.
When we first began this barbershop, we messed up a bit on pricing our shave services. Beardsmith and Blademaiden were the only two barbers here in the beginning, and perhaps it was our enthusiasm for shaving that led us to price shaves to move, as it were. Back in 2014 we were charging a mere $20 for a full 45-minute straight razor shave. After a year of being booked solid we bumped it to $25.
Now on March 1st, 2017, we move on to a new era of pampering and service.

There’s only so much a barber can do when a client wants it short of the side, AND short on top. That’s usually the most basic of basic dudes haircut. Unless, that is, you want to get scummy.
This is the Scumpadour, or as it’s inventor, Schorem calls it, “what happens when you put a Pompadour, a Flattop and a Quiff in a room and let them get busy. And it’s a thing we really like cutting.

The people that work here are a family, so when they leave us, especially for a worldwide adventure living their dream of being a professional touring musician, we’re a solid mix of happy and sad. Which we express in planning-intensive, messy ways that are all-day affairs.

Somehow we have never gotten around to producing a full-on haircut and/or beard demo on film. But when the scumbags of Schorem and Reuzel put out a call for potential Scumbassador educators, we knew the time had come.
Let us present: an Executive Contour haircut and huge fucking beard. There may also be dragons. {Update: totally made it. Say hello to one of the first Reuzel Scumbassadors}

Brian is a client, dear friend and incredible artist. He is the first of our in shop featured artists, and made a T-shirt and sticker design for us in homage to an industry godfather, Bertus of Schorem barbershop.
So we send Bertus a shirt with his face on it, he got a photo taken of him wearing it by their shop photographer Jelle, and now we surprise Brian with it. To quote him, “Headsploady.”
