Dearest Frands,
Today marks the two-year anniversary of the opening of Beardsgaard Barbers. Those who have been with us since the beginning know that despite the press and employees who will soon number in the double digits, we opened this place on scraps of cash, a partially successful Indiegogo campaign, a few credit cards and a sacrifice to the All Father.
thanks doods
We opened on September 9th, 2014 with no employees short of Natalie, Tyler and 6-year-old Shop Kid Morgan when she wasn’t in school (original Shopkeep Colin started a short time later). Our hours are set up so that we could be full-time workers and the parents of a school-aged child, but reinforcements were needed pretty quickly.
So much has changed, and will continue to change, because you all keep telling people about this place, and we keep having to let out the waistband, as it were. With even more employees soon to come (from halfway across the country, at that!) and hours soon to expand, we will soon be able to accommodate an unprecedented number of you fine fellas, and we are so excited to do just that.
But as usual, this isn’t about us. This is about you. By supporting Beardsgaard Barbers and River Peak Apothecary (it’s our 1 year anniversary over there, too), you have:
- Spread the word of the fortress of beards, in turn bringing out-of-towners from an hour+ away, making Batavia even more of a destination town (why should Geneva get all the fun?)
- Created 8 (soon to be 10) new jobs in town
- Made the men of this town foxy as crap (most of them didn’t actually need much help)
On the other hand, this is what you hath also wrought:
- Rash of yearly invasions by zombified pumpkins
- Weirdoes…weirdoes everywhere
- This.
Batavia is the little Shire town we always dreamed we would find, and we just hope to add to the magic here. It’s the least we can do for a town that has helped this little family called Beardsgaard live their dream of living independently by creating something special in the world, each and every day.
Our thanks are as deep as the oceans and as wide as the flat-ass lands that we call home. The only thing that would make it better here would be some mountains and a great BBQ lunch spot downtown.
With deepest gratitude,
The Beardsgaards and the entire Beardsgaard Barbers cast
