Barber Kate's Big Adventure

It’s a bittersweet moment when Gaardians move on from their time here to live their dreams. When you run a business, you have to get comfortable quick with the fact that everyone’s lives will take them elsewhere eventually, but it’s extra rewarding when it’s because something as wonderful and exciting as Kate’s next steps. Kate has been part of the foundation of this shop for more than half its existence, one of two who has been with us since before the plague times.

She began her time here with loads of talent but a lack in confidence in it yet, and has grown into a powerhouse of a barber, full of passion for her craft and the sort of technical know how that has made her a mentor for all the barbers who came after her here. Kate, we cannot thank you enough for all the magic you have brought to this little barbershop down by the river these past 6 years. We would say we will miss you (and we will), but we’ll still see you and Finn plenty.

From Kate:

Greetings, Gaardian Family! I have been with Beardsgaard for over 6 years now and it is time for me to move on to the next chapter of my career as a Barber. Beardsgaard was the shop I dreamed about working at even before I started Barber school and I have been so grateful to have had this experience.

This place has made me a better barber and is the reason I am even able to move on to this next step. I will be opening up my own little one chair studio nearby but will still have a wonderful working relationship with the shop and a longtime friendship with all the people here. Natalie and Tyler have provided me a safe and comfortable home here where I was able to grow both professionally and personally. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the story here at the Realm of Beardsgaard. I might not be behind the chair but I will definitely still be a familiar face around here, picking up River Peak products for my shop, playing in a realm D&D campaign or stopping in with Finn.

My last day is October 11th. I have been letting my regulars know as I see them at their appointments and anyone else who wants more information, please reach out to me or catch me on Instagram at The Barber Broad. Be well, my friends!

It has now been years since we have had a chair searching for a barber to call it home, but that time has come again! Kate may be so tiny she needs a step stool to reach the tops of a lot of client heads, but the metaphorical shoes her successor is stepping into are enormous.

Beardsgaard is hiring, are you the one to carry on the legacy? Job details and how to apply here.
